Just to start things off, I had bought my Lancer GLS in early 2008. Bought it from Target Orion Star in Jln Ipoh. It was delivered to me on the last day of the Chinese Lunar Calendar that year, just in time for Chinese New Year 2008 the next day .

Ok, one of the first things I did when I got my Lancer GLS was to install an original GT rear spoiler. That one costs me RM1,964 and I bought it from EON Sg. Besi. I installed this 3 days after CNY 2008 (which meant 4 days after I got my car, see above).

Then I changed the tyres and rims (to my stupid brothers and friends here... shuddup! ).

A little while later, I had gone to ChipsAway in PJ to enquire about changing the interior. Mine was a first batch GLS, which meant it had beige fabric for seats and other small parts, as well as a fake walnut dash trim. I was given a quote by ChipsAway and I got the job done some time later. Below is the transformation :

Before :

After :

The dash and door trims weren't done at ChipsAway; I got it done at Tom's Stickers using, well, stickers.

More posts to come.

I am also going through midlife crisis.....solution is turbo-charging the lancer. Just give me 180-190bhp at the wheels

Forget it la, Steven. Just be content with small small mods for the Lancer that adds up to no more than 160-170bhp. You go with turbo at those figures you mentioned and you'll likely need to buy new CVT within a year; at 180-190 at the wheel, on-engine would be like 230 liao... CVT sure give up leh.

You want those kinda power, just buy a car that gives you that kinda power stock. Or a manual with good gearbox lo.

Anyone knows what happened to labu's car?

Rev, you are right. The CVT cannot tahan the extra horses.

I have a question for all more technically minded members. I noticed that the lancer 4b12 has a lower 2nd gear ratio than our 4b11. Obviously the manufacturer decided that 4b11 is for economically minded owners. Can we do something to tweak the electronics of our CVT to run 2nd gear at a lower ratio ?

I had been driving my lancer manually for the past week and had been happy with the extra zip.

Are you sure that lowering gear ratio can be done ONLY via tweaking the CVT?

Is the a software that governs the CVT like those in DSG for VW?

Dear all.

I believe that the software governs the gear ratios in our CVT. After all, the CVT runs by belts/chains between pulleys. You will feel the difference when you accelerate using D and manual. Especially the 2nd gear.

Donny was talking about using smaller tyres+rims la which effectively means gear ratios will change depending on the RPM lo.

I honestly have forgotten already, it was so long ago. They're not blackened actually but it's a pseudo/fake CF-like sticker.

You can try to go to Rainbow at Kepong and ask Robert to do it. He also has CF-like stickers (in fact there's a 3M CF sticker that is very good looking but is rather pricey).
