During the my recent trip up north and back, I can conclude after months of testing, that the lancer performs much better when the road is uphill.

They will run diagnostics and the CVT will return an index based on a sensor that monitors the CVT. I think the index is a life expectancy index figure. When I did my 40,000km service a few months ago, my Lancer returned a figure of 14,000 (or something close like that) and the service center sifu said "You don't use the Techtronic much, do you?
